Hello warriors, how are you?
Guess what??!!! All the crap we have been going through with the DWP NOT reading the Mandatory Reconsiderations has had me adapting and developing my approach in every section of PIP.
This just resulted in a WIN at Claim level…..that wait for it…….
Did NOT, I repeat did NOT require an appeal!!!! Code name: OUR FUTURE was awarded the correct level of PIP straight away.
The main differences in my approach was evidence at claim level. Please watch this video if you have not already:
The other difference was that I attended her assessment with her. I stopped doing this as it takes two or three days out of my diary. We made sure we had the first appointment of the day so it only took two days out of my diary. We did the practice sessions (that pretty much all of my clients book, this is one of the main reasons as well that people win straight away).
And then in the assessment I was able to keep her on track. You are NOT allowed to speak for people, but when required you can support. So long as the assessor is clear that you are not speaking for them or putting words in their mouth sometimes they will ask you to answer the question if the individual needs a break.
Obviously, OUR FUTURE did amazingly well! She was fantastic!
I really feel like I have got is sussed again. I hated the fact that they are not following their own procedure. Now, I feel like by making these changes, we can confidentially move forward. Thank fuck!
When I recruit this is a service I will start offering i.e. clients we do claims with we can attend assessments with them if they like.

Achievement of the week
Big big news…..Ollie has done brilliantly in our mock exams, and prep for the main exams. The big news is this:
Matilda, the very mature rescue dog who also goes by the name: FANG (as she is scared of most things and this comes out as aggression)…..
PASSED HER NOVICE TRICK DOG EXAM hahahaha
Training Ollie is, well honestly. Easy. She learns so quickly, the only issues we have are all related to me and my health issues. And my er….dog handler fails that occur at intervals. LOL
Before I started working with Kathleen (the link for her is at the end of the newsletter), I thought that Matilda was wonderful but er ‘the light was on, but no one was really home’.
The guilt I feel now. Now, I am so much more experienced with dog training I totally get ANY dog, no matter their age gets joy from trick training.
Here is the list of what she can now do and the amazing news is, now she has worked on these skills its like it has unlocked confidence in her so we are going to keep going! So long as she loves it, I will keep working with her!
What has made me happy
This is at 03:00am where I am staying. The moon was so bright I got confused if I read the time wrong!
I was working hard and was totally in the zone, I got up for wee and saw this:
They were clearly very busy when I was focusing as the floor was totally clear when I started work lol. Ollie is learning ‘tidy toys’ which will clearly be useful for us!
Books I have read
None, I am still working through Diary of a CEO. I have worked on loads of emails from different people though!
Arthritis update
All of us (me, Ollie and Matilda) are very tired. My steps have reduced as has my hours of ‘ability’ a day. When I first arrived, after the first few days when I got up after my ‘crash’ I was able to work for a couple of hours.
Now, I am functioning for the first bit of the morning until about 11. They I sleep until 2-4pm, but the awake time is not really useful. I am not able to get things done. So, I am twitchy about this weeks YouTube video as I have no idea when I am going to be able to film and edit it and its now Saturday!!!!
I am taking more pain meds than normal, but I feel like this trip I am much better with my neck pain. I am much more aware of the triggers and adjust what I am doing as soon as it starts to flare. So, although I am only good for about 2-3hrs a day, my quality of life feels better. In turn, I feel more positive and overall comfortable.
PIP
We have had a few people win this week and offers at Tribunal level. I am so happy for everyone involved. More importantly we have had a lot of people progress with their treatment!
Big shout out to:
- Get me to the fcuking Olympics
- The Suvivour
- Our Future
- Savage
- Code name: ‘N’
- W&A - who did everything themselves off the YouTube guides!!!!
- Over educated, under achiever
You are all doing amazing!!!!
There are so many people, I need to start doing a list throughout the week so I can do proper shout outs!
To anyone I have not listed that is getting PIP sorted or making massive progress, I am thinking of you!!
What I am looking forward to
I have started packing as it takes time. When I arrive, in an hour or so the mini house is set up (with help) for the entire visit. Day 2, I pop to the supermarket. When I leave, I start to slowly pack up as I cover all of the carpets and furniture with throws as I don’t want muddy paws to ruin anything.
I get a bit carried away every time I come, so slowly I start removing the throws. Whilst I have been here, I manage to dye my hair AND wash it at the kitchen sink. I wanted to try and have a shower but I just don’t have the energy for it and I don’t want to feel worse. So, all the bathroom stuff is packed. Clean clothes that I won’t need is now packed.
I love being here, but when it gets close to going home, its like that transition time, so I am looking forward to getting everything wrapped up.
I am looking forward to Sunday, as you read this we will have completed more trick training at the hall. Basically, it means we get loads of access to PROPS!!!! Ollie has the time of her life and we are building Matilda’s confidence! I love it!
I think Ollie will qualify as an ADVANCE MASTER TRICK DOG. We are currently ranked as intermediate master level. So, she has breezed through advance and should get her masters as well. To be honest, advance has been easier than intermediate.
Either way, we have fun so we don’t mind if we don’t get ticks. But she is so good with props I think she will breeze it.
The other day she was learning how to play the piano and as Kathleen was working with her there were some builders on a roof and they could see into her garden. They kept calling people over as:
‘Look, there’s a labrador playing a piano in that garden!!!’
I am going to try and get a photo of this, but I don’t know if it will be one of the props there on Sunday and I don’t want to ask as I want us to work on new stuff!
Ollie loves pulling carts, dogs and being a pick pocket!!!! But we are crap at holding something in her mouth for 5 seconds as I screwed up the training!!!!
This weeks video
Take care of yourself
