Professional HGV Drivers Are The BEST!
Hello warriors!
For those of you that do not know I am a Transport Specialist and Professional Drivers rank 7th in the Top Ten Most Dangerous Jobs in the WORLD.
This is the best image I could find, military, fishermen in the Bering Sea and emergency services have much better images online LOL
This week I had to have some very difficult conversations within my day job, we then did a team meeting where we could speak privately and be open and honest with each other (which we are skilled at LOL).
The whole meeting just reminded me on how lucky I am. Lucky to work with such amazing people. Lucky to have the privilege to support individuals with their family and personal challenges.
They did give me quite a bit of sh#t to start with, which I totally understand. I love being able to work with people who will tell you straight when they think things are sh#t and why.
As per normal, we frustrated each other, discussed everything that’s going on and why. Then how we move forward.
Ollie was in the meeting with us, and there were a LOT of us. Its the most people she has been around. If people were upset, she was then going to them and trying to make them feel better. She also picked up a drivers pen and brought it to me! That made me look like an amazing dog handler….its not gone that well in private before LOL.
By the time we finished the meeting I felt emotionally exhausted and just lucky…..I think that’s the word of the week for me: LUCKY
I have spent literally most of my adult career worrying about these men and their families. Statistically, we should experience 1 fatality per year due to the amount of hours they are on the road for. I am proud to say we are no where near this statistic!
In the future, when I am a full time YouTube SENSATION (hahaha) I will NOT miss having my phone with me 24/7……worrying in case I get ‘the call’ from the emergency services. But, I will miss the people.
Good professional drivers in the UK are like gold…..rare and worth a fortune! I firmly believe if you have a people first culture then the operation takes care of itself. Our culture as a team is amazing, we are a million miles away from perfect…..but we are consistent in many areas.
Lads, if any you are reading this……thank you…..for being the consistent, moaning, unique individuals of all time!
Achievement of the week:
My health has impacted my career since I was 16…..and it will continue to do so:
16 years old, rejected by the Army due to having severe Psoriasis
20 years old, nursing career ended due to MRSA and severe Psoriasis
29 years old, Humanitarian career (moving to Africa full time) ended due to Psoriatic Arthritis
45 years old, I can NOT attend site daily due to Psoriatic Arthritis (I have not been able to for YEARS)
The only certain thing in life is change and I try to embrace it in a positive manner. The past week has reminded me of the skill base at adapting to change.
Please subscribe as this will massively help my future career!
I met a dog with a BLUE tongue!!! ITS BLUE!!! And when you cuddle him, he is more awesome than he even looks!
Also, I got called to the Doctors to talk about Pneumonia…..
Yep, I did not expect that one……so I have had another injection….for which I am very grateful!
What has made me happy this week:
Apart from the team I am surrounded by, these have made me happy:
And these (I may have ordered this more than once….in the past 7 days):
I also took Ollie to a garage to work on her training:
She LOVED it!
Books I have read:
Brace yourself……
This is my FAVOURITE author, her books are stunning! She normally brings a new book out each year but she eased the pressure on herself recently so we have had to wait. Due to hand pain…….I cannot read it as quick as I want LOL….its a tad frustrating…….I AM SOOOO EXCITED ABOUT THIS!!!
I am on holiday this week so its ok to have a pain increase in my hands, I have had this book for months but was not able to start it until my holidays……whaaaa
Arthritic update:
Well, I have managed to increase my steps which is fab. But my fatigue levels are pretty full on at the moment, this will have to do with changes occurring.
Hopefully this coming week, I will be able to make some major progress on some projects I am working on and then I can focus on my normal routine, tasks, goals….
The increase in hand pain due to the book is taking the lime light off my shoulders, ribs and jaw joints LOL
My jaw joint pain has been severe this past few weeks. I do wish I was safe enough to make hot water bottles. There is NO WAY I am risking that, I have severely scolded my self in the past and totally accept that filling a hot water bottle is no longer part of my skill base hahaha
Oooooo also Wendy and I met a lovely lady at the Quarry (that seems to be a great socialising location) named Abby! Abby has seen Dr Packham as well! It was great to be able to talk to someone else about arthritis and the challenges we face.
What I am looking forward to:
There is soooo much!
Doing some vlogs with Wendy (they should make you laugh HARD, well one of them will)
Going to the carboot, I am going to do a carboot charades for a viewer so I am excited about that
I am going to really try and socialise whilst I am on holiday
Finishing my book!
Going to Halfords with Ollie
Having a proper break from my day job
Getting into bed with fresh bedding on!!! I put my Christmas bedding back on to cheer myself up LOL (any excuse)
Working with Tristan on a future project
Eating more of Natalie’s posh beef pasta er….mix….its lush
Changing my diet and stop comfort eating! Wendy and I have a plan!
Even though I am off, there are two Disability Action Group meetings this week that I will be attending as one has some guest speakers and I think I will be able to learn new things
OOOOOooooo on Monday I am going to get my nails done and eyebrow stuff…..I am going to do a vlog about arthritis in the feet….so I want them to look posh if they are going to be online hahahaha
This weeks vlog:
Take care of yourself
